About Smalltown

A little bit of country, a little bit of rock 'n' roll.

We are Smalltown! We play great music, old country to some new-ish country, southern rock to classic rock and americana. We've got a great sound with killer guitars and great vocal harmonies. We're located in eastern North Carolina and we've played in Gaston, NC to Oak Island, NC and in between.

Our Story

While Matt Cowan and Scotty Luke were playing with another band in the Swansboro, NC area, they met drummer Jeff Hill through mutual contacts and Jeff became the band's drummer. Through Jeff, the band was introduced to Bric Henderson (lead guitar) and David Jones (bass) as they have played together throughout the years. Some of those groups included Tom Baker, All My Rowdy Friends, David Lee Jones, Sabin Sharp, and Leesburg, to name a few. Since the band's inception in early 2023, we've played at venues like the Carolina Home and Garden, Bogue Sound Distillery, The Pirates Deck, Homer's Point Marina, the Chattahoochie Country Club, and a number of private events to name a few. And we're always looking to play wherever people want to hear good music!

One of the things that the boys in the band can really appreciate is that they work very well together. They bring their decades worth of experience in music together to create a blend of the music everyone loves with their own sound which melds very well with the old country to classic rock that fans enjoy. Vocally, Scotty, David and Jeff's harmonies blend seamlessly with Matt's smokey and graveled baritone. From Matt's vocals to Bric's lead guitar licks, Smalltown will have you toe-tapping, singing along and dancing with the songs that folks have always enjoyed.
